Oral Gastroview, Hypaque or equivalent should be used. You should not take this prep if you are allergic to iodine.
Dose 1: Mix 1 teaspoonful of contrast media with 8 ounces of juice or water and drink at bedtime the night before the exam.
Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours before your scan except for the last 2 doses of contrast media.
Dose 2: Mix 2 teaspoonfuls of contrast media with 16 ounces of juice or water and drink two hours before you appointment time.
Dose 3: Mix 1 teaspoonful of contrast media with 8 ounces of juice or water and drink 1 hour before your appointment.
The preferred juice is apple or cranberry. Avoid juice with pulp.
